Ken Raimondi's 67 Convertible - Part II - Nut and Bolt Frame Off
All The hard work paid off`! Congratulations Ken on Your NCRS
TOP FLIGHT award First time out !
Previously Ken's beautiful 67 underwent a little freshening up after being in hibernation for 20 years. It went from this:
To This: One sweet restored 67' L79 327/350 4 speed convertible! NCRS TOP FLIGHT Sept. 15 2007

After having enjoyed the car for a while Ken has decided to take it all the way. The body will be removed and the complete chassis and drivetrain will undergo a nut and bolt NCRS type restoration. When done, it will resemble the day it left the factory.
Our inspector gives the existing chassis the once-over to see what we have to work with and what we are going to have to update. He takes many pictures and notes and documents everything that we find! He also checks for leftover critter stuff!
Each section is photographed and each part number and date code is documented. This will be checked for originality (and condition). From there a plan is put together and steps taken to either restore a part or if the original is missing, replace it. This particular 67 was almost like a time-capsule having many original parts including key components such as the engine, transmission, and rear. Some small parts will have to be replaced. But for the most part, this is a nice car to work with. The frame is solid and we had freshened up the motor during Part I so some good detailing will be all that is needed for certain areas.
When we say nut and bolt, we mean nut and bolt. Every single part is removed.
The chassis and other suspension components are then taken to the media blaster for stripping.
The frame and suspension parts have been sandblasted and painted. Parts are on the way and in the meantime a lot of prep and assembly begins.

Last body lifting This car is beautiful after pressure washing time to refinish engine bay and remarry the body onto its longtime support, the frame .
Happy Birthday Ken The car cover your daughter Susan bought for your birthday gift will come in handy soon.

Wont be long before this 67 Is on the street again
Starting to look like a car again! This beauty is going for NCRS judging in 2 weeks
